There, amongst the already tremendous scenery of the surrounding countryside, with hazy mountains bordering in the distance, the Lake sweeps through the valley, interrupting the pines and birch trees with its remarkably huge scale. It, too, is a fantastic royal blue. Small islands reach up from the waters with sheer faces of granite that look to be six stories high. These little islets are topped with pine trees that reach up to the sky. We spent most of our time sitting on the back porch of the Lodge and staring out at the Lake, simply stunned with the peacefulness of it all. It was as if we’d found an oasis in a wooded desert.
