Suzette started teaching crazy-patch in 1983 for the local parks and recreation department in Beaverton, Oregon, and after several years there went on to become the crazy-patch teacher at Daisy Kingdom for 5 years, until Daisy Kingdom discontinued their class program in December, 1994. She also teaches silk ribbon embroidery, beaded embroidery, marbleizing fabrics, and dimensional embellishments for quilters. For 5 years she taught crazy-patch and silk ribbon embroidery for "The Quilt Shoppe" in the Portland Metro area. She has taught crazy-patch workshops for Quilters' Anonymous Guild in Seattle and for the Marin Needlearts Guild in California, a silk ribbon embroidery workshop at the "Ocean Waves Quilt Camp" on the Oregon Coast and a crazy-patch workshop at "BJ's Festival of Classes" in Bend, Oregon . Relocating to central Oregon in late 2001 and house-building there caused a temporary hiatus in Suzette's teaching, but she is teaching classes locally again now, and taught crazy-patch at Alston Hall College in Lancashire, England in September of 2003.
Suzette was featured quilter at the Northwest Quilters' Show in Hillsboro, Oregon in May of 2003, sharing her quilts and garments of the last 25 years with thousands of quilt-appreciative people!
Suzette's collection of slides of crazy-patch quilts and garments is very extensive, and she enjoys sharing it and her collection of antique and contemporary crazy-patch quilts and clothing with a receptive audience. Her background in education makes her particularly adept at instruction, and her enthusiasm for crazy-patch and its stitches is very contagious. After you hear her speak or take classes from her, you'll discover yourself looking at the world of fibers through the eyes of a stitcher too!
