Phantasy Star Online Review

PSO

Single Player

Phantasy Star Online is a muliplayer RPG that is played in a third person perspective. It has a single player with different mission exploring different areas. while that may sound like fun to the average player its not. The single player to put it simply is crap. If you pick up this game think you will make your guy a high level before you go online that's a bad idea. The Missions are boring and repetitive and the story is bad.

Xbox Live

Live is where this game shines. Being the only online RPG right now and with a farley lage player base it a RPGers dream. When I first got on live I had no problem finding a game with other low levels. Quickly making some new friend ships and adding a few more names to my friends list. This is the kind of game you can become addictive to online trying to get to the next level and find the next red box (Rares come out of red boxes). The down side is the rares are very hard to find and that has lead to a huge number of hackers and dupers. By when I stop playing PSO I had almost every item due to dupers and a 150 Ramar. This game was great when it first came out now the number of people playing it has dropped and the value of it has gone down.

Overall
Putting well over 100 hours in this game I got my moneys worth out of it. The graphics are dated (Being a port form the dream cast) and the sound is not up to par with most games. If you can look past that and the number of hackers and dupers you can have a great time with the game.

SPECIAL NOTE: YOU MUST HAVE XBOX LIVE TO USE THIS GAME. THE ONLINE COMES WITH TWO MONTHS FREE THEN $9 A MONTH AFTER THAT.

Game Play: 8.5
Graphics: 7
Sound: 6
Single player: 5.5

Overall: 7.2
