Broken Top in Central Oregon is probably one of my favorite day climbs. It is a fairly strait forward climb with little thought involved to persevere through the one difficult spot there is in the climb. The mountain itself is a thing of beauty and I am awed by it's splendor, I would be happy to climb this mountain any number of times. The route I choose is the standard northwest ridge. I hope to some day climb it from the couloirs on the north side as well. |
Once
you gain the west ridge you follow a rocky ridge trail
.
The
trail continues up the ridge. And here you are looking up
the ridge towards the summit.
It is a scramble on the rocks to the left to get up onto the
summit block.
The
fog rolled in a little today but sinse I had been up
here before it was an interesting feeling being in and
out of the clouds on such a high
summit.
