The Berkeley Digital Library SunSITE builds digital collections and services while providing information and support to digital library developers worldwide. Sponsored by The Library, U.C. Berkeley and Sun Microsystems, Inc..

Encyclopedia Brittanica OnLine has an extensive collection of archived material and an on-line dictionary and thesaurus.

The British Library Net is a project of the world-renowned library in London.

The Deschutes Public Library is an excellent local source of information in Central Oregon.

Disinfopedia, is a collaborative project sponsored by the Center for Media and Democracy to produce a directory of public relations firms, think tanks, industry-funded organizations and industry-friendly experts that work to influence public opinion and public policy on behalf of corporations, governments and special interests.

Country Reports is based on the CIA World Fact Book and provides a range of basic data about countries around the world.

The Library of Congress is one of the world's major resources for research.

The Internet Public Library provides access to a wide range of material.

The Librarians' Index to the Internet is another excellent resource for research.

The Library of the United Nations Office at Geneva is an excellent resource for historical and international information.

Nebula Search Encyclopedia has articles on a wide range of topics and people.

NumbersUSA is a non-profit, non-partisan, public policy organization that favors an environmentally sustainable and economically just America. It opposes efforts to use federal immigration policies to force mass U.S. population growth and to depress wages of vulnerable workers. NumbersUSA Action is pro-environment, pro-worker, pro-liberty and pro-immigrant. Activists in the NumbersUSA Action network are Americans of all races and include many immigrants and the spouses, children and parents of immigrants. Those who need to refer to NumbersUSA Action with a short, descriptive modifier should call it an "immigration-reduction organization."

Open CRS Network:  A project of the Center for Democracy & Technology, Open CRS provides citizens access to Congressional Research Service Reports that are already in the public domain and encourages Congress to provide public access to all CRS Reports.

Wikipedia is an open-content encyclopedia in many languages. The English edition was started in January 2001.  Biographical data of famous and not-so-famous people are among its many offerings.

Project Gutenberg is the Internet's oldest producer of FREE electronic books (eBooks or eTexts).
