The media listed below serve areas in Oregon other than Central Oregon: The Oregonian is the major newspaper for Oregon. Its on-line edition offers a variety of news and commentary. You can send letters to the editor by e-mail at letters@news.oregonian.com. Letters must be 150 words or less in length to be considered for publication. Opinion pieces need to be less than 600 words in length. The Statesman-Journal of Salem covers state politics in addition to local news items. Send e-mail to letters@statesmanjournal.com but note that this paper prints very few letters from readers living outside of its distribution area. The Portland Independent Media Center: "Portland Indymedia is an IMC for the southern Cascadia region of Turtle Island (an area temporarily demarcated as "Oregon" and southern "Washington" on some maps). Indymedia activism can take many forms, but is rooted in the Indymedia Principles of Unity which profess that the open exchange of and open access to information is a prerequisite to the building of a more free and just society." |
