Poverty in Central Oregon

Oregon has the unfortunate distinction of having the highest rate of poverty in the United States, and Central Oregon shares in this deplorable condition.

We will be devoting several pages on this web site to address this issue as well as providing lists of resources to help people in poverty.  Please keep checking back if you are interested in this topic.

The Central Oregon Partnership is one of the organizations tackling the problem of poverty.  Choose your preferred language to enter the site.

The Rural Organizing Project is leading a campaign for economic justice with the Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon.

Oregon Action "is a statewide community organization dedicated to economic and social justice for all. We empower the voices of under-represented people — particularly poor and low-income people, people of color and women — to influence public policy. Through leadership development and community organizing, we work to shift the balance of power on issues that matter to our members – winning real changes that make real differences in people’s lives."

Progressive Utilization Theory (PROUT) offers a theory and philosophy well-worth considering to help bring economic justice to the world.
