The Maine Woods
The Lodge at Moosehead Lake
Marnie and I have recently returned from the most wonderful vacation we have ever taken... a trip to Moosehead Lake in Northern Maine. We rented a room in this ultra-quaint lodge called The Lodge at Moosehead Lake (appropriately enough). It's a charming, rustic Bed and Breakfast, actually, and the proprietor speaks in this thick, THICK accent that sounds vaguely Canadian. Marnie insists that it was a French dialect, but I must have missed that.

The Journey
To be honest, what we enjoyed most about this vacation was the journey itself. We flew up to Bangor, Maine, in a small plane that we took from Boston. From Bangor, rented a car that we proceeded to drive through the most beautiful lands we've ever seen. Lush, rich forests on winding, hilly roads give way to grand rivers that are an indescribable royal blue. With each new rise in the landscape, we were convinced that the trip could not be more scenic, but then we would crest another hill and another glorious vista would unfold. Marnie spent the time driving, commanding me again and again to ready our camera for more pictures. We went through two rolls of thirty-five exposure film just on the trip to our destination.
